In contrast with the standard realist explanation for Russia's neighbourhood behaviour, Yash Sharma advances a constructivist-ontological security based argument. He claims that a constructivist-ontological security approach helps reveal that the Kremlin is equally, if not more, interested in its ontological security along with its physical security.
