Bilal Ahmad Tantray’s doctoral research seeks to investigate various aspects of political violence in South Asia through the lens of postcolonial theory. He aims to probe the relationship between cultural and direct violence with a focus on the role that popular fiction plays in the otherisation of dissident groups. His broad areas of interest include cinema studies, alternate historiography, subaltern studies, and conflict studies. Bilal has significant experience working on Urdu to English translations.
